It is said that the Native Americans that populated the area believed the cacti to be souls of their ancestors. When Matt witnessed the sunset over the national park, it became more than just a day in the desert; it truly became an experience that left a mark.

I want to stress how important it is to witness these spectacular sights with your own eyes. I hope that you will visit the Saguaro National Park at some point and that it will leave as much of a positive impact on your life as it did on Matt's and many other's who have been inspired by the park. Check out all the information you'll need about the Saguaro National Park here. METADATA 5 (CORRUPT FILE), 2015
Revok's abstract work is a culmination of parallel lines and geometric shapes. His artwork usually consists of bright, contrasting colors, disjointed lines that abruptly end or lead somewhere else. Revok's spectacularly titled METADATA 5 (CORRUPT FILE) is exactly that; a computer glitch, a screen gone haywire. Disjointed as it may appear, every aspect looks purposefully misaligned, abrasive, and disorganized.
Instrument Exercise #9, 2017
Instrument Exercise #9 is one in a series of painting which uses the jagged spray painted lines. As the paint gets closer to the foreground, it becomes muddled into brown covering the electric blue and gradient orange-red, and finally becomes black. The lines are weathered and imperfect, some previous layers show through, and everything was strategically placed.
If you're interested in checking out more of Revok's artwork, check out his website Jasonrevok.com, but for now we'll leave you with a few more of our favorites.

Matt's journey into hand poked tattoos is what birthed the Black Scraps t-shirt...
]]>From his first ever stick n' poke on himself
To the most recent as of this post.
Matt has constantly improved, providing clean lines from both his original flash as well as collaborating on designs.
Matt's journey into hand poked tattoos is what birthed the Black Scraps t-shirt. The shirt available on the site at this time is just one of many to come. Each design will be a limited run, and after one design's time has finished, the next batch will be introduced. You can expect the next iteration of the shirt on Thursday, July 12th and it will be titled BS Snakes.
Until then, enjoy the featured photos of finished stick n' pokes at the end of this post and if you wish to see his complete portfolio, have any inquiries, or wish to schedule an appointment for your own hand poked tattoo, hit up Matt on Instagram @blackscraps or at Blackscraps.com

]]>"When Matix moved to the Compton neighborhood we were looking at ways to embrace and simultaneously expose the youth to the things that inspired us to build our lifestyles and brands – surfing, skateboarding, art and snowboarding.
Learning new skills, building self-esteem and keeping at risk youth off the streets of our local Compton neighborhoods through our boardsports and street culture are the pillars of the Matix Compton Surf Club.
The unique challenge of standing up on a wave, riding atop a skateboard, or turning down a mountain under your own balance and power while your best friends are right there cheering you on is an experience unique to board sports and our culture. Having conquered something extreme that their friends have never tried provides these kids a platform to stand up on and be proud.
For this project we have chosen to work with Roy W. Roberts, II Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club. A portion of proceeds from every Compton Surf item will help support our ongoing volunteer efforts with the Club."

Dozens of arrests were made, police cars were damaged, and minor injuries were reported as protesters took to the streets last night in Downtown Los Angeles to protest Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton Nov. 8th. What started out as peaceful protests in front of city hall soon spread towards the freeway system only a block North. Hundreds of protesters then swarmed the 101 Freeway and a skirmish with the police ensued for the next few hours into the morning of Nov. 10th.

More shirts I've collected and catalogued in the past few months.
As this is a new project, I haven't yet picked a goal date. When I get farther along in the picture editing process I'll know better how long it will take and when I think I'll be finishing up. More to come.

Photographic scenes ripped from your dreams; Mike Dempsey creates stunning imagery that's sure to leave you with an "Oh fuck" feeling. Most photography leaves you with a sense of beauty or grandeur, nostalgia or banality...the normal feelings when it comes to photography. They're the photos we know and love, and frankly the reason photography was invented in the first place. Photos are supposed to document our reality, to capture our daily life as it unfolds. Mike's photography however takes it to a whole new level. He's managed to create and capture the in-between moments that are very rarely seen with such clarity and vibrance. With Mike's images you're immediately transported to the second the photo was taken, and you're instantly struck with a feeling of urgency for what's currently taking place, or what's about to happen. The realness is surreal, the immediacy unbearable. All in all, they read more like stills from movie reels than anything else. You can't help but fill in the blanks and complete the script in your head. All this from a self-proclaimed director first, photographer second. It all makes sense, it's all dope af, it's Mike Dempsey (aka Mike's Butt).

Anderson Paak Venice
I love to know what takes place behind-the-scenes on movies and photo shoots, and with Mike's photos it's no different. I'm constantly trying to figure out exactly how an image was created.
Drive By Fruiting
I can't help but think how painful the next 10 seconds of this woman's life is going to be ... and what the heck she planned on making with oranges, apples, eggplant and kale?
Halloween
Apparently me and this girl share the same hatred for smashing pumpkins.
Dorothy Dog Sitting
Such a rad photo. Is this like 4 images put together? I must know.
